First things first - Janet Chartoff - Happy Mothers Day.
Today we started out from the hotel and went to Manhattan Beach. Some of the riders walked their bikes to the Ocean and dipped their bikes. I chose not to do so. Below a picture at the pier.
Tracy installed flags on our bikes. Although I was not in favor of it, it is pretty cool to see all the bikes riding with their flags.
The first accident was at the pier. Apparently, a child ran in front of Rich. He then fell into Wille who ended up with a bent front derailleur. Rich felt very bad about it Wille. I am sitting next to him and he is still beating himself over it. I just saw Willie and he is in very good spirits. Boston or bust - Willie !!!
I rode with two groups today:
Bathroom Brigade - That is Hank, Alex, Champ and me as the 4 of us will be visiting the restroom often.
Albuquerque group - Barbie, Mark R, Jack R, Jack W and Darrell. They are riding until that point. There was a very scary moment. A car made a right hand turn and did not see Jack R and Barbie and almost ran them down. Very scary.
If you ride with the above group, ride behind Barbie. She was really gives good hand signals and lets you know what the road conditions are at all times.
We arrived at the hotel at around 1:45.
Miles - 80.859
Riding time: 5:29:23
Ave. Speed: 14.7 mph
Stop lights - Too many too count
