Overlooked by me as I am embarrassed as it is difficult for me to inflate tires properly, I did so yesterday. My roommate, Peter who will probably kill me by the end of this week taught me. The pump had a pressure gauge. I do not have this on my pumps. Anyway, the front tire was 70 PSI and the back tire was 40 PSI. Recommended PSI was 110.
Today I started out and besides almost knocking Barbie and Jack W down, I rode so much quicker. However, there is a downside. I was so quick I fell down. I feel a little sore and I was embarrassed as everyone passed me. This was at mile 12. I waited for the repair truck and all in it delayed my ride by about 50 minutes. Rick and Tracy did the best they could and I started on my way.
And I am glad I did not miss the experience !!! I had read on last years blogs that people were being pushed by the wind and were doing upwards of 45 MPH. I did not go that fast, but I was moving at 35 MPH for around 7 miles.
The weather was over 100 degrees for about 3 hours of the ride. Let's see how I recover tomorrow.
Flat tire update - Harry, Champ, Alex and Karen who I joined for awhile all had flat tires today. I just saw that they arrived safely. Congratulations.
I met Hank at Palm Springs and we pushed each other for around 7 miles. I left Hank and arrived at the hotel.A message from my roomate, Peter
