Last Saturday, I rode up Pacific Coast Highway and went up Encinal Canyon, down Mullohand Road and back. I ended up riding my first century of the year (104 miles). The next day, a slight chance of rain at night was forecast by the Doppler 7000 weather person. It started raining about halfway through my ride. It was not as bad as some other days, but it was the first time I rode in the rain on my road bike. I am like protective mother with that bike and really did not like the bike getting wet and dirty. Me getting wet is fine, but not the bike.
Yesterday I was leaving for a trip outside the country so I only rode about 50 miles. I was taking a shower and the person who I live with that I am related by marriage was preparing lunch. When I came out to eat, it was spicy chicken wings. I guess that requires a little explanation. For as many years as I can remember during halftime of the Super Bowl that is the meal that we ate together. As I was not going to be there today (Sunday) she prepared that meal. That was a super feeling.
The trip overseas was uneventful, but we did fly over the Grand Canyon and it was a beautiful view of the Colorado River and the Canyon itself. The plane ride was uneventful, but the first question I asked at check-in at the hotel was where I could watch the Super Bowl. I have watched every game since Super Bowl III. Even when I lived in Japan, I was able to watch every game early in the morning. Surprisingly, the answer is I can watch the game in my room on the BBC.
And now I leave you with a few pictures of a trip I took in April 2008
They only allow 400 persons per day to climb one mountain. We were 397 and 398.
At the end of the rainbow.
