Unfortunately, no Lance as he crashed out a few days ago.
However, Levi and George were there.
I biked a quick 66 miles today before heading downtown. I hope to bike to the last day of the tour tomorrow which will be a few more miles and some climbing. Watching those guy bike is amazing. They are moving so fast for such a long period of time. Truly inspiring and makes you want to put in a better effort.
Update: I did end up biking today. I climbed to the top of the Tour of California course and watched the competitors bike up there.
Was wondering if you would be at the finish line.Nice shot of George...they are amazing aren't they?
ReplyDeleteDid Team Radio Shack have a tent or anything?? I'll take one of those jerseys with Levi's autograph, or even socks.
ReplyDeleteGo TRS!
With limited viewing of the Tour, we heard Lance went down but werent sure if he was out...
ReplyDeleteIra,
ReplyDeleteIn answer to your question about the Death Ride, nothing on the XC tour compares. The DR is at elevation between 8,000 and 10,,000 ft. and weather can be a big factor. In 2008, we had high temps, rain, flooding, cold and hail all in the same day. Also, 15,000 ft. of climbing and 130 miles is far more than anything on the XC tour.
I climed 500,000 feet that year and also did a mock DR on the hills of Palos Verdes about 10 days before the official ride. It was a huge commitment, but it gave me the confidence I wanted to have when I got to Markleeville. I think you can find enough climbing in the mountains around Malibu if you choose to do the trial run. Yerba Buena perhaps...?
