15 pounds is how much the bag of rice I buy weighs. I buy it, attach to my bike and then ride 15 miles. Rocky Balboa had some old school and unusual training techniques and I guess I do as well.
This week the weather cooperated and I rode my bike to work most of the week.
Remembering back to that bicycling article on 101 reasons you know you have ridden your bicycle a lot. I have 1 to add: Knowing that the car in front of you is going to make a right hand turn even though they do not turn on their right hand blinker.
Enjoyable moment of the week: The traffic light was flashing red, which caused traffic to be backed up for a quarter of a mile and i just biked right by all of the stopped cars.
The weekend weather was in the 80s and was a little hot with the sun. However, it has been nice to be able to bike almost every day. I am feeling a little stronger, but my conditioning is well behind last year's pace.

Two a days
Today, a few observations on the NCAA Basketball tournament:
Somehow, it does not surprise me that Kansas is out and Kansas State is moving on. After all, Harry did buy and wear that Kansas state hat during our the ride.
The road to Indy has a little different meaning for me. I remember discussing with Fred that the route we were going to take was closed due to detours and that he was going to take an alternative route. He and a few others did take that route which I understand was beautiful. Nancy took an alternative route off the cue sheets. Our way into Indy was nice as well as we biked through the suburbs and neighborhood of Indy. So the road to Indy has at least 2 routes.
Back to biking. This weekend was the first where I biked some in the morning, ate lunch and then biked after lunch. I finally made it past 1,000 miles for this year (Tom D - I am going to catch you). I really admire anyone who can train indoors, but it is a little boring for me. This weekend was great for biking and finally 2 days of biking and in bike shorts, no less.

Finally
The first commute to work by bike this year. I forgot how much I enjoy getting to work that way. It really refreshes and is a great way to start the day.
It was supposed to rain on Saturday, but Yuko looked out the window and the weather looked fine. We biked a few hours and as we were hungry we stopped by at our house to eat. We were going to continue our ride, but 15 minutes later it started raining so that was it for our ride today.
