Today our group was joined by Chris and Willie. Willie was born around Cleveland, Ohio and although he has not lived here for some time it is still home. We bicycled around 90 miles away from where he grew up. Chris worked with Willie and they trained together for this trip.
Although each of the states we have bicycled through have farms, each farm land is a little different. The grass in the yards seem to go on and on. The sun and the dew on the fields was very beautiful. There seem to be a lot of flags on farms in Ohio than other states and there are a lot of Ohio State Buckeye fans. The photos do not do the scenery justice, but the vastness of the fields and the trees are truly amazing. Below is me in front of a red farm house. Please note that if you pay attention I have been photographed in the same shirt everyday, but fear not. I wash it every night.
The first 2/3 of the ride were pretty flat, but at mile 72 we had a few uphill climbs. My granny gear is working well so I was able to manage the climbs fine. At the end of one of the climbs we were resting and a farmer came out from his house and wanted to know if we needed any water. We declined, but learned that he had just planted soy beans (ready to be picked in September) and corn (October).

ReplyDeleteLike I said, watch out for those Buckeyes. . . If you see one tell them a joke: Why do Ohio State Buckeyes keep their diplomas on their dashboards? So they can park int he handicap spaces! . . . wait maybe save that for when you have a better getaway vehicle.
