President Obama - I have found your shovel ready infrastructure project. They are located on many of the roads we biked today. The amount of holes and bumpy roads were as many as I can remember during the trip. It made enjoying the scenery a lot more difficult as it was unavoidable to hit some bumps today.
The towns we do pass are really quaint. They are towns and people that you would never meet if you travel on intestate highways. Biking is definitely a different way to experience travel. Below is one of those towns. You stil see a lot of American flags in the towns (if you enlarge on picture below you will see there are some flags in the picture)
At the first SAG today a company allowed us to use their bathroom. I offered the security guard my Payday and they in turn gave me some toffee chocolate, Mr. Goodbar and Nutrageous which I donated back to the SAG. So if anyone had them at today's second SAG, please thank the security guards.
I also did not know that one of our U.S. Presidents was born in Niles. See below for the answer.
Lastly, since we have hit Kansas I have been waiving at each passing car on the other side of the road. I only do this when we are in the middle of nowhere where it is safe. My observations:
1) Women are more inclined to waive back then men.
2) Men usually nod their heads or give you the index finger (sort of like a pistol) acknowledgement.
3) Children always waive back
4) Ohio has been the friendliest state followed by Illinois, Kansas and Indiana (sorry Fred).
